The Story of Us

We have lots of new followers here! Welcome to our little corner of the internet.

We are the dad (Jamie), the mom (Kate), and the littles.

Cooper is 10. – Lover of trains.
Sawyer is 8. – Protector and hockey player.
Harbor is 2. – Wants to be a T-Rex.
Wynnie is 3 months. – Perfect addition to our family.

We talk a lot about autism over here and how our family has settled into it. We aren’t perfect and have made lots of mistakes but we do our best to live and learn. Autism changes a whole entire family. No parts are left untouched. So to tell our son Cooper’s story we have to tell you the story of us.

We have these big dreams of changing the world. So that when you, a person without autism in your life, goes to the grocery store and sees a person twirling in circles in the aisle or frustrated in line, that you take notice of the subtle signs. Like hands covering ears or arms happy flapping and you think of Cooper.

You think of the boy who loves trains and how he speaks with a computer and his brothers and parents who ask you to have grace. And show kindness.
Thank you for being here. We want you to comment and ask questions and share. We want you to listen and learn. Be curious. While autism isn’t new by any means, it is relatively new to being celebrated out loud. We make a lot of videos and share a lot of stories to do that.

And lastly, I wrote a book. Well, they all contributed. They are all in the story. And more. Marriage, siblings, sleep deprivation, anxiety, education, isolation, my viral video, bullying. It’s all in there. And it’s available for presale on Amazon. It even made it into the top 100! Which is pretty stinking cool.

It’s on sale today! Which is also cool. I would be honored and so thankful if you preordered it. (Amazon won’t charge you until April)

I also have a supporter group if you want more of a community. Click the blue button that says become a supporter. That group has saved me countless times. It’s absolutely amazing.
