Thank You for Learning About Autism

I want to say the hugest, most heartfelt thank you to each and everyone of you who has supported me and my family on this journey.

I know that so many of you have fallen in love with Cooper and our story. Sawyer, Harbor and Wynnie too. And of course Jamie.

8 years ago I sat on my couch in Duluth, MN and I created a blog. I named it Finding Cooper’s Voice. And I truly had no intention of anyone every reading it.

I poured my heart out to my computer and I refused to tell anyone the name of the page. I felt too vulnerable and raw. I wasn’t ready to think about autism or nonverbal or stepping off the beaten path. But my beautiful son was. And he took us with him.

Here we are. My book is number 131 on Amazon and a best seller.

Thank you. Thank you for loving my boy. But mostly thank you for learning about autism. And listening. Because when we know more we do better. In schools. In the community. At the grocery store. And at the park.

Thank you.

Kate Swenson lives in Minnesota with her husband Jamie, and four children, Cooper, Sawyer, Harbor and Wynnie. Kate launched Finding Cooper's Voice from her couch while her now 11-year-old son Cooper was being diagnosed with autism. Back then it was a place to write. Today it is a living, thriving community of people who want to not only advocate for autism, but also make the world a better place for individuals with disabilities and their families. Her first book, Forever Boy, will be released, April 5, 2022.
