Forever Boy

This photo was a strong contender for the cover. It’s one of my favorites of our family.

When you have a child diagnosed with autism, it’s imperative to know that every person in your family will be impacted. Each of us has learned, been challenged, been blessed. We’ve grown. We’ve changed.

This photo shows a family rallying around a little boy. Around Cooper. He was struggling so much with photos even though there really was no pressure. It was one of those moments that just stings. To see life be so hard for him.

And Sawyer, his younger brother, held his hand and whispered in his ear that he was there.

Our whole family changed when that diagnosis was given. I like to believe it made us better. Not perfect. But better.

My book is filled with stories like this one. Simple moments. Complicated feelings. Real life.

I can’t wait for you all to read the story of us. Of the yellow haired boy who smells like the wind and hugs people at Target because he is excited about cake pops from Starbucks. And his amazing siblings. And a mom and dad who do their very best.
