To The Heroes Who Love Our Children

Along this journey of navigating autism you send the largest part of your heart out into the world and pray that they are loved and cared for.

You also meet some of the most amazing heroes disguised as teachers and para-professionals.

You see the blonde standing in the back? That’s our “Miss Kaci” and never have I felt such gratitude or such an instant connection for someone who was a complete stranger to us less than a year ago.

To those who love our children despite challenging behavior.

Who meet them with more patience than sometimes we have as mothers after a sleep-deprived night.

Who send the photos because they know we are wondering what our children are doing all day at school.

Those that teach them about letters, numbers, and the weather.

Who hug them close when they fall on the playground because they scraped their knee.

Who deserve an award for showing up every single day, in the midst of a pandemic, and giving their job their all.

To those who don’t ask for recognition, or wait for an award.

You my friend, Miss Kaci, are the heroes who continue to make a difference in the lives of amazing children like my son.

Thank you isn’t enough, but it’s all I have to offer right now. I cry tears of gratitude and thanks each time I count my blessings.

When we sent him off to kindergarten I hoped for just one meaningful relationship…and when I look at this photo I am met with extreme overwhelm for the love and support of each of you.

To all of the teachers, and paras who love their students like our team pictured below, remember the difference you are making in the lives of so many.
