The Evaluation is Done.

0fa85906a569c0ebbbf78458a489057bQuick post today. Cooper had his evaluation with the psychologist yesterday. Thank God that is over. We meet next Wednesday to get her feedback. According to her and his daycare provider the visit went well. Cooper made perfect eye contact the whole time, greeted parents and greeted the psychologist. Oh, and followed directions. But, what I didn’t hear is how he interacted with the other kids. And I was too scared to ask through email. So, Wednesday it is. Will this wait every end???

I wanted to share a little excerpt I found on a speech delay/apraxia website. Here is a good shot of hope for all the moms and dads that need it. Like me!

“I feel compelled to share my son’s progress especially to those of you who are wondering if their child will ever talk. I have been that mom for the past 2.5 years. My son, Mason, is going to be 4 on March 28th. His first full consistent word was “present” which he screamed out Christmas morning! We were shocked of course and not expecting to hear it ever again. He hasn’t stopped talking since!

Yes, it’s hard to understand but I hear it more clear everyday and it’s only been a little over a month. I’m sharing because this is something I wanted to hear when I was waiting. Mom’s it will come when you least expect it. Keep having faith in the beautiful children that were given to you.”

Now if that isn’t hopeful I don’t know what is.

Just found your blog. So excited for you to hear this story of hope today! YEA!

Our twins (27 months old now) were born 15 weeks early, leaving both with speech delays (and other major delays as well). As I read through your list of Cooper’s Stats, I could resonate with quite a few of them. The one that jumped out at me was the sleeping challenges! I could probably have written the same paragraph about our daughter–naps well, goes down at night well, but is up nearly every night for at least two hours. And the timing of that awake period changes from night-to-night. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it! Just wanted to encourage you that you are not alone in that struggle. And…I try to remind myself that everything is worse at 3am (or 2am or 4am or any of the wee hours of the morning) so I don’t completely lose it when I’m up. yet. again. Blessings to you!

Hello! I am so glad you found my blog! Don’t even get me started on the sleeping challenges. I am still traumatized by them! Cooper didn’t sleep through the night until he was 15 months, then slept through the night until his brother was born. Once his brother was born in January 2013 he woke up every night for 6 months. It was awful. We could NEVER figure it out. Even now we still can’t. But thank God he sleeps like a little prince now! And yes, everything is SO MUCH worse in the wee morning hours. My husband and I always say nothing good every happens at 4 AM. Blessings to you as well!
